Our Primary Activities

Serving as a network those of us who work specifically on curriculum, instruction and assessment issues

We share resources (online and in person) such as standards-based report cards, school reports, materials, curriculum documents, local assessment plans, information on grants, and burning questions.

We work jointly on projects designed to enrich the work of all of us. One example was developing an assessment checklist and assessment bank as we were all grappling with standards based unit development. Another was developing K-3 writing benchmarks when they didn’t yet exist.

Providing quality professional development focusing on standards-based teaching and learning.

Rather than leave the state to attend conferences at high cost, we are able to bring national presenters to Vermont.

Drawing on our own knowledge and skills, we highlight and share the deep knowledge within Vermont.

Providing a vehicle for ongoing dialogue with educational leadership.
Because our meetings are often held in Montpelier, we regularly create the opportunity to meet with DOE personnel to discuss important issues that affect our work in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
We form study groups to come to consensus and write position statements about what we know to be true about issues of great concern to our work.

We hope you will join us this year for another enriching program of professional development.
